    For my recent milestone birthday my husband and I For my recent milestone birthday my husband and I decided we should have a short getaway. The choice was Berg, Bush or Beach and we decided on the Beach option. It wasn't a difficult decision where to go, as it was a place that we had been meaning to visit for years - @pumulabeachhotel What is so great about Pumula Beach Hotel? 🏖️ Close to home. It is an hour and 20 minutes away 🏖️ All meals are inclusive 🏖️ They are situated right on the beach I booked an upper level room not knowing what that actually meant and it was a fabulous choice. We had our own balcony and a clear view of the sea. We also slept with the balcony door open and the sound of the sea was so loud with waves crashing onto the shore. It didn't turn out to be beach weather as there was a big storm and the rain poured down. That didn't worry us at all as we were getting away to relax. I did get my walk in the beach so I was happy. The food at Pumula Beach Hotel, oh my goodness the food.... Just wow! They have food magicians. The food was beautifully plated and so delicious. Our favourites were : Thai butternut soup, Beef fillet topped with bacon, camembert and cranberry jus, Marinated lamb ribs, Coleslaw, Chicken livers, Beef & veg hot pot and the incredible Peppermint crisp tart. The staff at Pumula Beach Hotel are amazing. We were so well taken care of.     I had a sneak peak of the beautiful new @doughgirl I had a sneak peak of the beautiful new @doughgirlza premises in Durban this morning, the day before their official opening on 1 April. What can you expect at the new Dough Girl Cafe? 🥐 Inside and outside seating (approx 60 people) 🥐 A breakfast and lunch menu and kiddies options 🥐 Takeaway counter for coffee, pastries and bread 🥐 In house and locally sourced products for sale 🥐 Events and end of month evening menus 🥐 Gluten free, fairy alternative drinks and vegetarian options 🥐 Free wifi 🥐 Street parking The menu is separated into 5 sections consisting of Baked, Caffeinated, Hydrated, Started and Fuelled. I chose a regular cappuccino from Caffeinated and the Eg, Egg and Eggy breakfast from Started. After breakfast I had a pasteis de nata and another cappuccino. I had to get some bakery items to takeaway and chose sourdough bread, cheese, custard and chocolate croissants and brownies. I also bought a bottle of lemon curd but managed to resist buying the Dulce de Leche as I would have eaten it by the spoonful. Congratulations Dough Girl on your wonderful new place.     It had been a few years since I last visited Yello It had been a few years since I last visited Yellowwood Cafe and Restaurant in Howick, and I was surprised and delighted by the changes. There are 3 separate areas to sit in which makes it easier to book and have a party or celebration. I especially loved the deck that juts into the donkey and pony paddock and has a magnificent view of the Howick Falls. The Howick Falls was flowing strongly and it could be heard from Yellowwood. My husband and I ordered the Breakfast Stack which was the breakfast special that day - Toasted ciabatta with hummus, avo, bacon, balsamic and olive oil cherry tomato reduction, poached eggs and crumbled feta. It was delicious!! My mother-in-law had a scone with jam, cheese and cream and a cappuccino while I ordered Earl Grey tea. They use Lavazza coffee. It was so relaxing listening and looking at Howick Falls, watching the miniature donkeys and ponies and we also saw Zebras and Wildebeest in an adjoining paddock. We will definitely visit again and if you haven't then you have to add it to your must visit list. History : "Yellowwood Cafe is situated on the historic Fairfell Farm. Sir George Sutton established this farm and built the wonderful home that is now a Restaurant. The House was built in 1870 and stone that was quarried on the farm was used to build the beautiful homestead. All the wood is mainly Yellowwood that came from the Yellowwood indigenous forests in the Karkloof. The home was originally thatched. The house is a national monument."
